KEY POINTS:
A dentist has to face professional misconduct charges over indecent assault claims following a majority ruling by the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice, Dame Sian Elias, was a dissenting voice on the court's decision that the dentist, whose name and location are suppressed, should appear before the Dentists Disciplinary Tribunal, even though the incidents have already been subject to a criminal trial.
The dentist was acquitted in the district court in 2002 of indecent assault against three patients.
A dental complaints assessment committee later investigated the dentist's conduct on those occasions and a separate complaint and brought charges of professional misconduct.
