Workmen were hard at it in Pahiatua yesterday wrecking old buildings to allow access to the exterior walls of the New World supermarket.
The supermarket needs earthquake strengthening and to get access for this to happen it was necessary to demolish the buildings on either side.
As a result Managh Electrical has relocated its business to the opposite side of the street, as has the Information Centre, which was to the left of the op shop and to be demolished.
There are also plans to build a covered walkway to a carpark at the rear of the supermarket.
