Hamilton motorists should expect delays this morning after a truck dropped a steel beam from its load.
New Zealand Transport Authority this morning tweeted that drivers using State Highway 1 through the city would be held up after the accident. .
Waikato Senior Sergeant Andrew Mortimore said the truck dropped the beam just before 8am on Lincoln Rd, just south of the Avalon Dr roundabout.
Mortimore was unsure how the beam would be removed but advised people to avoid the area.
