There is "unexpected congestion" in international arrivals at Auckland Airport.
Airport operations supervisor Brian, who did not want his full name used, said the crowds were because of several off-schedule flights. These included an Emirates flight which was delayed by dust storms or fog at its place of origin.
"We are trying to manage it the best we can," Brian said.
He estimates the already reduced crowd will be cleared in the next 30 minutes.
