Former Cabinet minister Tuariki Delamere has lost his appeal to be repaid a six-figure sum in costs incurred in a failed Serious Fraud Office prosecution against him.
After a High Court jury trial, the former Immigration Minister was acquitted on 20 fraud charges relating to alleged illegal money-shuffling schemes operating when he was an immigration consultant.
Six of the charges were dismissed at a trial last year and Mr Delamere was found not guilty on the other 14 charges.
Denying his appeal, High Court Justice Patricia Courtney rejected Mr Delamere's suggestion of misconduct by the SFO.
