Wairarapa United are hoping a large boisterous crowd will turn out to help them get back on track when they tackle Kapiti Coast at the Colin Pugh Sports Bowl in Masterton on Saturday.
The home side are currently sixth in the Wellington premier soccer division, equal on points with this week's opponents who hold fifth on goal differential.
Wairarapa have dropped off the pace in recent weeks with consecutive losses on the back of a stream of defensive errors and need to win this weekend to stay in touch with the top four.
"Kapiti are a good side, they're extremely physical and we will be hoping like hell we get a good sized vocal crowd at the game because that's what we've been encountering when we play away and it makes it tough," team spokesman Phil Keinzley said.
"The boys trained really well on Tuesday night, they looked pretty sharp and at this stage there are no changes to the starting side for this weekend."
Both captain Carl Shailer and player/coach Pita Rabo recovered sufficiently from foot and knee injuries respectively to take the field last week and came through the match unscathed.
Their presence, along with midfielders Anton Ross and Czech import Mireck Tvaroh, will be crucial if Wairarapa are to claim the maximum three points on offer.
But it is the defence that will be under the most scrutiny, having conceded six soft goals in two weeks when the matches looked for all money to be in the bag.
"We've been putting more emphasis on enjoying ourselves and hopefully we can concentrate for a full 90 minutes and stop making these silly errors that are costing us," Keinzley said.
"Our midfield has been performing well and we've been scoring enough goals, we just need to keep out composure at the back and not give the ball up so easily."
Wairarapa has one change to its squad for the 2.30pm match, with Nick Keinzley promoted to the bench in place of Dutch recruit Chris Looge, who drops down to the seconds to get some match fitness.
