Wellington's serial media complainer Don McDonald's getting a defence fund set up in his honour.
Don McDonald's awaiting the ruling of his appeal against a $50 fine from the Broadcasting Standards Authority for complaining too much.
Media Matters president John Terris says Mr McDonald deserves a medal, not a penalty, and has compared him to the likes of Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr.
He says TVNZ deserves condemnation and says that by wheeling out their high priced silk lawyers, funded by the taxpayer, they're stamping out free speech.
Mr Terris says they've opened a defence fund for Mr McDonald and anyone is welcome to donate.
