Lawyers for Donna Awatere Huata and her husband Wi have begun presenting their case in the couple's trial on charges of misusing $80,000 of taxpayers' money.
The defence has launched an attack on the methods used by the Serious Fraud Office in gathering evidence against its clients.
It has called a forensic computer expert to testify that the process used by investigators to analyse the Huatas' computers and Pipi Foundation documents were not thorough and failed to follow standard practice.
Wi Huata is accused of falsifying GST invoices and minutes of meetings held by trustees of the foundation.
The defence says none of the documents Crown investigators have produced prove Mr Huata was their creator.
The couple deny the charges.
