A murder charge has been levelled against a 21-year-old man over the death of a man whose body was found decomposing on waste land near Huntly.
The body of Wiremu Tamanui Awa, 48, of Huntly, was found in vegetation near a railway line off Shaw Street on April 26. Police believe he died around April 19.
Detective Senior Sergeant Pete Jones said the arrested man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow on one charge of murder.
Police were still keen to speak to anyone who may have information about Mr Awa's death, he said.
"Our investigation is by no means over and we are still interested in speaking with anyone who knows anything about Mr Awa's death. Someone may have seen some suspicious activity in the area of Shaw St over the last few weeks or may know something that would be helpful to us."
