A decision on whether a 25-year-old name suppression order is lifted against a man facing perjury charges is expected next month.
High Court Justice John Fogarty reserved his decision regarding the man who was dubbed "Witness C" in the 1990 trial of David Tamihere.
Justice Fogarty heard a day of submissions from Arthur Taylor, a career criminal who has brought a private perjury prosecution against Witness C, and lawyers representing the accused, the Crown Solicitor, and media interests.
Taylor has filed charges in the Auckland District Court alleging that Witness C gave false evidence against Tamihere who was convicted of the murders of Swedish travellers Heidi Paakkonen and Urban Hoglin.
The judge said the issues were more complex than expected and indicated he would give his decision in writing in a week or two.
