The Environment Court has released its decision over an appeal relating to the Exide Battery Factory at Petone.
The Greater Wellington Regional Council set lead emission levels for the plant's boundaries after a review prompted by public complaints last year.
However some residents and neighbouring businesses believed the levels set were too lax and sought redress from the Environment Court.
The Regional Council's consents manager, Nigel Corry said the court decision endorses the limits they set and found an appropriate balance.
He hoped the community would be reassured that the limits set will protect them.
