A diver near Porirua’s Mana Island perished during a dive this afternoon.
Following reports that a diver failed to surface at around 3.05pm, emergency services raced to the scene.
The diver was located, but unfortunately, they were not able to be revived.
A police spokesperson said they were working to support the person’s family and the death will be referred to the coroner.
