A crash on the Waikato Expressway near Rangiriri is causing major delays for commuters.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 4.30pm on State Highway 1, just after the roundabout heading towards Huntly.
A police spokeswoman said the crash left debris on the road heading south, with drivers having to pick their way around the mess to get home.
Ambulance officers were at the scene and one person was being medically assessed.
The crash has now been cleared from the road, but delays are still expected, the NZ Transport Agency said.
