A post-mortem has revealed an elderly man found dead in a road construction site in Hamilton yesterday died of natural causes.
The 83-year-old man's body was found by road construction workers as they turned up for work at the site between Tramway and Carrs roads in Chartwell about 7.15am.
Police removed the man's body from the scene yesterday afternoon and conducted a scene examination.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall today said a post-mortem conducted in Auckland this morning had found the man's death was not suspicious.
He thanked the road construction workers for offering "invaluable assistance" to police investigators.
The death has now been referred to the coroner.
