A woman found dead in a Christchurch house did not die in suspicious circumstances, police say.
Police were called to a residential address on Fletcher Place, Upper Riccarton, at 2.10am and the area was cordoned from that time onwards.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Worner, Christchurch CIB, tonight said police had conducted a scene examination and determined there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The post mortem had been completed and the death would be referred to the Coroner, he said.
Police were called to the scene where the woman was found dead in the early hours of this morning.
There was a scene guard in place at the house for much of the day.
A Fletcher Place resident told the Herald that there was strong police presence on the street today and that officers had been doorknocking to ask people about the woman.
