Rotorua detectives believe a woman who was found dead on her doorstep yesterday, received her fatal head injuries when she fell.
Rangi Rayner, 55, from Rotorua, was found dead at the front door of her home in Sala St yesterday morning by a visitor.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper said a post mortem examination yesterday in Auckland suggested her injuries were consistent with a fall.
Police spent most of yesterday examining the house and speaking to family members.
They said further inquiries would be made in the next few days.
