The Westport man who died while kayaking off Tauranga Bay last month has today been named by police.
Christopher Black, 51, went fishing in a sea kayak on February 22.
He was discovered floating near his kayak by friends who pulled him from the water.
CPR was performed on the beach but was unsuccessful in reviving him.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
