KEY POINTS:
Chris Kahui, who was cleared of murdering his twin baby sons, has slated police for doing "nothing" to find the real killer.
Three-month-old Chris and Cru "scream out for justice," Mr Kahui told Auckland's East and Bays Courier.
Mr Kahui said he struggled to accept the deaths of his sons and the fact that their killer was still on the loose added to his burden.
The twins died of brain injuries in Auckland's Starship Hospital in June 2006 after one was earlier found not breathing at their home in Mangere, south Auckland.
Mr Kahui was charged with their murders but it took only minutes for a jury to acquit him in May this year.
"As God is my witness I didn't do it," he told the East and Bays Courier.
He said he had had no time to grieve and still had trouble dealing with their deaths.
"My boys scream out for justice and it hasn't been done. I was acquitted and the police haven't done anything. And yet I went through all the pain and suffering for nothing."
"I don't know who the killer is. If I knew I probably would have killed them myself. I have my suspicions but it wouldn't be fair to say who.
"If my family had known, if I had done it, I would be in jail by now. They wouldn't lie for me, not for something like this."
Mr Kahui says the police investigation into the babies' deaths was "appalling",
There was no "tight 12" family members who "stonewalled" the inquiry, as police had said.
"All my family were co-operative. They were all at the police station at the same time giving their statements.
"I think the way police handled it was appalling. They didn't treat my family with respect, they just wanted to pin my boys' murders on somebody and they just picked anybody."
Mr Kahui, 23, has now started a new life with Marcia Ngapera, 27, the daughter of pastor Tom Ngapera at Panmure's Faith Family Baptist Centre - where he was bailed to and has lived for almost three years.
On November 22 , he became a father again, to Carla Haylee Kahui Ngapera.
"I am very much in love. Later on down the track I do want to marry Marcia."
But it's not all happy families, as Mr Kahui is not allowed to live with his new daughter.
Child, Youth and Family has barred him from living at the church but allowed supervised visits during the day.
He no longer has any contact with the mother of the twins, Macsyna King, also the mother of his eldest son Shayne, who now lives with family in Gisborne.
Mr Kahui is taking parenting courses and marriage counselling at the church and is receiving counselling from other pastors to help him to grieve and move on.
