KEY POINTS:
A teenager "died" and was brought back to life after he smashed his fist through a window during an argument.
Police were called to a house in the Hastings suburb of Mayfair at 12.30am today after a dispute between the 18-year-old male and his father.
Senior Sergeant Stuart Fleming said they found the teenager on the lawn, unconscious and bleeding profusely from a bad injury to his arm.
"At this early stage it would appear that the arm injury has been caused by the male smashing a window during an argument at his home address," Mr Fleming said.
It is understood that the young man's heart stopped before Hawke's Bay Hospital staff were able to revive him.
He is now reported to be in a serious but stable condition though it is understood there are serious concerns about his recovery after being deprived of oxygen for a period.
