A large team of police are working on the homicide investigation that was launched after the body of a man was found in a Rotorua park early this morning.
Bay of Plenty Police district field crime manager, Detective Inspector Mark Loper, said the body of the man - believed to be caucasian and in his 60s - in Kuirau Park was discovered by members of the public around 1.30am.
He said the man had suffered serious injuries, however he's said it's too early in the investigation to detail the potential cause of death.
A cordon remains around most of the Kuirau Park area, and two blue tents sit to the side of one the large hot water pools.
The man's body is still at the scene, but police expect it will be removed this afternoon.
