Police in Papua New Guinea hope this week to be able to retrieve a body which villagers say could be that of a New Zealander.
The dead middle-aged man was found in a dug-out canoe on the Sepik River, north of Angoram, in November and later buried.
East Sepik provincial police commander Leo Kabilo said the villagers told police there was no identification in the canoe but they thought he could be a New Zealander because of his "tribal" tattoos.
