Daylight saving ends early on Sunday morning.
People are being reminded people to put their clocks back one hour before they go to bed on Saturday night.
As well as changing clocks, the Department of Internal Affairs suggests people also check smoke alarms in their homes to ensure they are working.
Daylight saving will start again on Sunday, October 1.
Australian states with daylight saving, including Victoria and New South Wales, remain on it until April 2. Melbourne and Sydney will therefore be one hour behind NZ time from Sunday until early April.
Most US states go onto daylight saving on April 2. Britain switches to daylight saving, known as British Summer Time, on March 26.
