The Fire Service believes a fire this morning at a west Auckland day care centre was deliberately lit.
Fire service spokesman Jaron Phillips says firefighters found the external wall of the day care centre alight, when they arrived around 6.30 this morning.
The incident is being treated as suspicious, and police and a fire safety investigator are at the scene.
Jaron Phillips says at about the same time some rubbish bins were set alight about 100 metres up the road, at the intersection of Harbourview Road and Te Atatu Road.
He says the service managed to control the blaze before it caused major damage.
