KEY POINTS:
Days after announcing that Grant Trevor Adams' disappearance was being upgraded to a murder inquiry, Tauranga police yesterday swooped on a central city home and took a man in for questioning.
"New avenues" of inquiry were being investigated, said Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner shortly after the dawn door-knock.
Adams, known by his gang associates and other drug dealers and users as Granite, vanished in November 2005.
Besides using P, it is known Adams dabbled in making and selling methamphetamine.
Police said on Tuesday that they believed he had been killed after "rip-offs" and drug deals turned sour.
Mr Turner confirmed that a 17th Avenue property had been searched yesterday. A witness described the police visit as low-key.
"As a result of some information received since we publicised Granite's disappearance we did execute a search warrant at that property.
"An occupant of that address has been taken back to the police station and spoken to about Granite's disappearance."
Indications were that the men were former associates.
Mr Turner said the man, 53, was released yesterday afternoon and no charges had been laid
He said the man was not a suspect at this stage. Inquiries would continue.
