The court hears graphic evidence about how the bodies of Margaret, Laniet and Arawa Bain were found by police. Police also tell of finding live and used ammunition throughout the Bain house.

A conflict in the police case is revealed when a detective gives evidence of bone fragments being in the lounge of the Bain house, while a document of police exhibits says they were found in the adjoining computer alcove.
The defence asks Kevin Anderson about plans for a new house that were in Laniet's room, and whether the plans had room for Robin Bain, but the ex-detective says he cannot recall them.
The court hears that 21 discharged .22 ammunition shells were found in the caravan at the back of the Bain home, where Robin slept.

Detective Mark Lodge is questioned on why he did not preserve Robin Bain's hands in plastic for gunshot residue testing, which could have shown if he fired a gun on the day of the killings.
