KEY POINTS:
The retrial of David Bain for the murder of five members of his family in Dunedin in 1994 has been put back until at least March 6 as a number of legal challenges remain undecided.
"At the request of both the Crown and the defence the empanelling of the jury for the trial of David Bain has been rescheduled to occur on Friday, March 6 rather than Monday, March 2," a statement from the High Court said today.
Jurors are still required to attend court on March 2.
Last week in Christchurch, Chief High Court Judge Tony Randerson and Justice Graham Panckhurst reserved their decisions on pre-trial arguments and a stay application to have all charges dropped against Bain.
Their decisions are expected by the end of this week.
Bain's defence team was also granted leave by the Supreme Court on Monday to appeal on a different matter.
That appeal is to be heard tomorrow.
Bain was found guilty at his first trial in 1995 and served 13 years before the Privy Council decided a new trial should be held.
