Giants will face two of the top club sides in the country when the Inter-City series men's softball top six playoff matches get under way at Fraser Park, Petone tomorrow.
In a daunting double header assignment they will front up to Porirua and Miramar in consecutive games as they start the battle for semi-final berths.
Giants coach Tony Nixon expects his team to be at full strength for both encounters and he says they will have only one thing on their minds, and that is winning.
"We don't need any telling how good the opposition will be but we've beaten sides of this calibre before and there's no reason why we can't do it again," Nixon said.
The recovery from injury of star pitcher Ritchie Clarke is a boost for Giants as is the consistent batting form they displayed when placing third at the very competitive Wanganui Braves tourney at Wanganui over Anniversary weekend.
Nixon, who himself made a couple of impressive appearances at pitcher at the Braves tourney, said error-free performances in the field would be crucial against Porirua and Miramar, both of whom have the batting strength to take full toll of any lapses there.
"It's all about concentration, we have to have our minds on the job all the way through," he said. "If we maintain our focus we can pick up two wins, no doubt about that."
