Darfield house fire victim named

Police have released the name of the man who died in a house fire at Bleakhouse Rd, Darfield on Saturday.

He was Jody Alan McGinnis, 39, of Darfield, the Canterbury town at the centre of September 4's earthquake.

Constable Tony Beaumont of Darfield police said there were no suspicious circumstances and the fire was not earthquake related.

The matter has been referred to the Coroner.
