Police in Auckland have issued a warning over the theft of a dangerous chemical which looks and smells like coffee.
The chemical lignosulfonate, which was scooped from a 25kg bag at an Avondale factory this morning, was highly toxic and should not be ingested, police said.
Anybody who came into contact with the chemical should call the Fire Service and seek urgent medical assistance.
