A violent man is still on the run from police after he broke into his ex-partner's house and allegedly stabbed a man.
Thames police believe Sean Osterman, 34, is hiding in Auckland, where he has a number of associates.
He had been remanded in an Auckland prison on six other charges but was bailed to a Thames home on Thursday.
Detective John Adams of Thames CIB said Osterman broke into the home of his former partner on Friday morning, through a kitchen window, and armed himself with three knives from the kitchen.
Mr Adams said when Osterman entered the living area of the home he was confronted by the woman's partner.
"A confrontation took place and the other man was stabbed in the stomach.
"The wound was quite serious and required the victim to be transferred from Thames over to Waikato Hospital."
Osterman then fled into bush beside the Tapu-Coroglen Rd and police, using a dog to track him, failed to find him.
Mr Adams said Osterman has a history or violence and should not be approached.
Osterman is wanted in relation to the stabbing, breach of bail and breach of a protection order.
