Dalefield have their best chance of the season tomorrow to break their "duck" in the Wellington premier division men's hockey competition.
That's the word from coach Mark Fenwick who says that while Victoria University will obviously start firm favourites for their Clareville clash, Dalefield are capable of upsetting the applecart.
"If we are going to win a game this season this is probably going to be it," Fenwick said. "They (University) are a good side but they are beatable".
Fenwick sees the tactical approach of both teams being similar with the emphasis being on attack.
"They like a fast, aggressive style of game and so do we," he said. "You'd expect a few goals to be scored, that's for sure."
The absence of talented Andy Ewington is a blow for Dalefield but it has been softened to some extent by the gain of Camus Wyatt, who has returned from overseas and will probably play at left half.
The Dalefield women's team will also be at home for their Wellington premier division match this weekend.
They will be up against Indians, which currently hold second place on the points table.
Dalefield coach Rochelle Retter has been pleased with the progress made by her side in recent weeks and said the win over Karori last time out would mean greater confidence going into a game against an Indians side which have been the surprise packets of the premier division series.
