It was their first win in this season's Wellington premier division women's hockey competition when Dalefield beat Karori 6-1 at Clareville on Saturday.
Coach Rochelle Retter was delighted with the teamwork of the Dalefield side which took most of the first half to gain control over a depleted Karori combination and then dominated the second spell.
Dayna Yeo and Emma Beaver were impressive up front for Dalefield but Retter said the win was due to players working together rather than individual brilliance.
Goal scorers for Dalefield were Dayna Yeo, Jodie Graham, Ana-May Playle, Harriet Cameron, Emma Beaver and Karen James.
The Dalefield men's team also played well on Saturday despite losing 5-2 to powerful Northern United in their Wellington premier division match, also played at Clareville.
Dalefield created a number of good scoring chances through the course of the game and their defence ensured Northern United had to work hard for their goals.
