Both the Dalefield women's and men's teams will be thirsting for revenge when matches in the Wellington premier division hockey competitions resume tomorrow.
The women are up against Eastern Hutt at Clareville and the last game between these two sides should provide motivation enough for Dalefield to come up with a quality performance.
Then it was a case of Eastern Hutt playing about as well as Dalefield played poorly with the end result favouring Eastern Hutt by a whopping 7-1.
Dalefield do have the advantage, however, of knowing they are capable of beating the current competition leaders as in their first round clash it was they who emerged the winners, by a narrow 2-1.
Extra motivation for Dalefield will be the need to pick up points to assist their chances of making the semi-finals next month.
They are in third equal place with Hutt on 27pts and ahead of them are Eastern Hutt (34) and Victoria University (29).
A bigger concern though is that Indians are lurking just two points behind them in fifth place although Dalefield have played one less game than them.
Coch Kim Henson said Dalefield had allowed themselves to be intimidated by Eastern Hutt's physical style of play in their second round match and were determined that wouldn't happen again.
"They (Eastern Hutt) don't take any prisoners and we have to have the same attitude", Henson said. "If they push and shove we have to give it right back to them."
The Dalefield men play Victoria University in Wellington tomorrow and they too will have bitter memories of their last clash with them, having been thumped 9-1 after losing the first round encounter by just 2-1.
With just the one win from their 10 matches Dalefield are a long last on the competition table but they have played well enough of late to suggest they could give fourth placed Victoria plenty to think about.
Coach Craig Nielsen said Dalefield 's transition to a 3-3-4 playing format seemed to working for them and they would be staying with it tomorrow.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Meanwhile,Wairarapa College have yet to taste defeat in the Wellington premier division secondary schools hockey competitions this season, going through their first eight games undefeated in both the boys and girls sections.
The goals for and against record of the two sides indicate just how dominant they have been, with the boys scoring 48 goals in their eight matches while conceding just five and the girls scoring 32 goals and conceding only six.
