Dalefield will be aiming for more of the same when they play Harbour City in a Wellington premier division men's hockey match at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington today.
Their 4-1 loss to competition leaders Victoria University last weekend represented Dalefield's best performance for 2014, University scoring two late goals to seal the victory.
"It was very encouraging, we competed strongly all the way through," Dalefield coach Dave Blackwood said. "We probably had as many prime scoring chances as they did, it was a really good effort."
Dalefield will be close to full strength with their experienced skipper Chris Mason and Rathkeale student Zac Caldwell leading the defence, Phil Arkell and Tane Workman doing likewise in midfield, and Aaron Oakley will front the attack.
It is likely they will have the services of Wairarapa College duo Zac Hardie and Hamish Finlayson, who have been playing for their school at the Anzac tournament in Auckland this week, where the college started impressively, with a 1-0 win over St Andrews and a 2-1 victory over King College.
