Dalefield women's hockey coach Nigel Goodin knows his team should account comfortably for Hutt in their Wellington premier division match at Clareville tomorrow.
After all, they did beat Hutt 3-0 in their opening game of the 2009 season and Hutt have had four successive losses since then. All told Hutt have scored only the only one goal while conceding a massive 27.
What worries Goodin is Dalefield are coming off a two-week break and are probably going to be a "little rusty" as a result.
"There's been plenty of enthusiasm at training but there's always the nagging doubt about taking a little while to get back into the swing of things," he said. Pleasing for Goodin is he will be spoilt for choice tomorrow when it comes to his starting line-up with a full squad available to pick from for virtually the first time this season.
Tactically, along with a strong start, he wants Dalefield to keep the Hutt defence guessing by constantly changing the direction of attack and by using the whole width of the turf.
"It's a royal chance to get everything in place for the tougher games to come," he said.
The Dalefield men's team will also host Hutt in a Wellington premier division competition match tomorrow and statistics show they will start as rank outsiders.
Dalefield coach Mark Fenwick is optimistic, however, with Dalefield being able to adopt an "everything to gain and nothing to lose" approach they could push Hutt harder than most people would imagine.
This is particularly so with dynamic attacking force Rowan Yeo returning to the side after a successful national under-21 tournament campaign as a member of the title-winning Capital squad.
Fenwick said Yeo and company would be encouraged to take the game to Hutt with the idea of upsetting their rhythm and frustrating them into mistakes.
