A lack of continuity in their attacking play marred Dalefield's effort when they were beaten 8-1 by Indians in their Wellington premier division men's hockey match at Clareville on Saturday.
While Indians clearly had the better of the game in terms of territory and possession, Dalefield still managed to create a number of prime scoring chances but these were generally spoiled by passes going astray -or not being made - just as the defence was fully stretched.
That was in direct contrast to Indians who looked sharp and precise whenever they entered the scoring zone and invariably made the most of their opportunities.
The number of goals scored against them may suggest otherwise but there was actually a pleasing tenacity about the Dalefield defence with old hands like Greg Mason, Willie Schaefer and Chris Mason leading the way, along with Tane Workman.
