Dalai Lama to visit Christchurch

The Dalai Lama will be in Christchurch next week to see first-hand the destruction caused by the February earthquake.

The Tibetan spiritual leader will visit the city next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dalai Lama Visit Trust New Zealand spokesman Neil Cameron said the Dalai Lama had very fond memories of his previous visits to Christchurch and had requested the opportunity to visit the city ahead of his 10-day Australian tour.

He will offer prayers and speak publicly at a free event at the Canterbury Arena next Wednesday.
