An Albany man who responded to the aftermath of a horrific multi-vehicle smash at the Dairy Flat and Coatesville-Riverhead intersection says the road needs urgent safety work.
This morning a truck and a small car collided, sideswiping about four or five other cars in the crash, with the truck plunging through a barrier as a result.
Giles Civil director David Hick travels through the area two or three times a day and saw the aftermath of the crash about 7am.
Several motorists were blocked and got out of their cars to help, Hick said.
The woman in the mini appeared seriously hurt, he said.
