Living a life ruined by a gunman is horrible, with the mornings worst of all, a weeping Kylee Guy told a press conference today.
Her husband Scott Guy, 31, was shot dead in the driveway of his Feilding home as he went to milk the cows in the early morning of July 8.
He left a pregnant wife, and a toddler, Hunter, who adored him and still listens every morning for the sound of his truck returning from the milking shed.
"In the mornings it's hard, the first thing he asks for is Scotty," Mrs Guy offered, as the tears flowed at a public appearance she said she was doing "for Scotty".
"It's real hard, I tell him daddy's still with us."
Mrs Guy pleaded to her husband's killer or killers to give themselves in, saying they were "gutless" and she did not know how they could live with themselves if they did not.
She begged the killer or anyone who knew who did the shooting to come forward with information.
"I want everyone out there to know...what's happened is so horrible and so disgusting, especially in New Zealand, especially to such a beautiful person. He wouldn't hurt anyone, he was just so kind, so didn't deserve it."
Mrs Guy said she was "not good at all", and had left the dream home she lived in with her late husband. But Hunter was helping her carry on.
"I'm just dealing with this, I don't want to be out in public, I'm just dealing with losing the love of my life.
"What's happened is so horrible and indescribable, the worst thing that could happen ever, so it's really hard.
"They've taken a wonderful beautiful father away from his children, his sons.
"They need to be stopped."
She pleaded for the killer to come forward, saying knowing the gunman was still at large made her husband's death even harder to cope with.
"They just need to do the right thing - it's so horrible what they've done - and if they don't they're gutless, they shouldn't be able to live with themselves for doing something so horrible.
"Someone will slip up, something will happen, but that makes it hard, because there isn't anything, it would be good if there was, but there isn't.
"To me it still doesn't seem real, there's no way he isn't coming home."
Police, who are focusing their efforts on the theft of three puppies from the property, said they had a number of lines of inquiry, and still had 40 officers on the case.
Police this week said they were interviewing local robbers and burglars, and a number of recently arrested criminals.
Police were also investigating several vehicle sightings on Aorangi Rd, where the shooting took place.
Soon there will be another Scott Guy, with his unborn child to be named after him.
Mrs Guy said she still clearly recalled their last talk.
"He cuddled me and told me he loved me, he cuddled me every night, he cuddled me...and that was it."
