“Our daffodil-picking days are always such an enjoyable experience for the volunteers involved and the new patch of bulbs at Eastwoodhill Arboretum will ensure that for many years to come we can partner with the arboretum and continue offering locally grown daffodils during our August campaign.
“We are really grateful to the team at Eastwoodhill Arboretum, who were proactive in finding a lovely space for these bulbs to be planted and had them collected and in the ground with such ease.”

xxThe next two weeks will see Cancer Society staff and volunteers busy as can be with Daffodil Day coming up on August 30.
Gisborne-East Coast Cancer Society fundraiser and events co-ordinator Shay Podjursky said the organisation would move more than 5000 individual stems of fresh daffodils through places such as local rest homes, business orders, cafes and other shops that sell them on behalf f the cancer society.
“This is no small task and wouldn’t happen without a large number of volunteers doing their part including growing, picking, bunching and selling for us.
“It is truly a team effort,” she said
But more volunteers are needed and would be very welcomed.
