KEY POINTS:
Kerry Duncan was shot in the stomach with a pellet gun during a drive-by shooting as he took his children to Queens Park in Invercargill yesterday.
Mr Duncan and his children Cassidy, 8, and Bailey, 10, were walking along St Andrew St about 12.30pm when an air pistol was fired from the rear window of a passing vehicle.
Mr Duncan suffered a small welt to the stomach.
He said he did not know he had been shot at first. He had felt a sudden stinging pain in his stomach.
It wasn't until he looked around and saw a slug gun being pointed from the car window that he realised he had been shot.
Police said a member of the public who saw the shooting followed the vehicle to a house in Fairview Ave and called police.
The armed offenders squad detained a group of youths at the house, where an air pistol was found.
A 16-year-old youth has been referred to Youth Aid section.
