KEY POINTS:
The Antique Riders, a group of cyclists aged 53 to 80, are on their way from Cape Reinga to Bluff by bicycle, to raise money for the St John Ambulance Service.
They left on Monday, and plan to be in Bluff by October 20, after covering 2047km.
The average age of the participants is 67, and they all have extensive cycling experience, including the Tour of Britain, Speights Coast to Coast and Around Lake Taupo.
They plan to visit as many community St John centres as possible on their journey, as well as to encourage older people to become more active.
The team has 12 members, with six riding at any one time. Support the ride by donating at www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/antique/ or by phoning (0900) 74337 to make an automatic $25 gift.
