A young cyclist is in a serious condition at Auckland Hospital after falling in front of a trailer on the intersection of Quay Street and The Strand in central Auckland.
Witnesses said the woman was stopped at the lights along side a car and on take off wobbled, clipped the car and fell under the trailer of a passing car.
"The ambulance was there pretty quickly and there were a lof of people around her helping and calling for help," a witness said.
The serious crash unit is on the scene and traffic is being diverted.
City-bound traffic on Tamaki Drive is being diverted up The Strand and there is currently no access onto Quay Street.
