State Highway One is closed after a cyclist died when he was hit by a tour bus in the Waikato.
Police say a southbound tour bus, carrying 31 Korean tourists on a trip from Auckland to Waitomo, collided with the cyclist near Hopuhopu at 10.50am.
Police and emergency services are still at the scene of the accident, between Taupiri and Ngaruawahia.
State Highway One was immediately closed but diversions have been put in place.
The busload of tourists is currently waiting outside a house on Old Taupiri Road for a new bus to take them to Waitomo, then onto Rotorua.
None were hurt in the accident.
Police said they had few details yet on how the accident occurred or the name of the cyclist.
The accident occurred at a curve in the road before a rail overbridge.
