Cyclist killed in hit-and-run

A cyclist has died after a hit and run in Leeston, south of Christchurch.

Senior Sergeant Stewart Munro said the car failed to stop and the cyclist died at the scene last night.

He said Leeston Road would be closed until this afternoon.

Mr Munro said police did not know the identity of the driver and asked anyone with information to phone police on 03 325 2800.
