Cyclist killed in early morning crash

A cyclist is dead after a collision with a truck and trailer unit on State-Highway 1 near Paraparaumu early this morning.

Police said the cyclist was taken to hospital following the 6am incident but later died.

Police want to speak to anyone travelling between Paraparaumu and McKay's Crossing at about 6am who may have seen a southbound cyclist or truck and trailer unit.
