A 41-year-old female cyclist was impaled by one of the handlebars of her bicycle after a crash with a 4WD in Havelock North this morning.
The crash was about 10am at the intersection of St Hills Lane and Napier Rd, Hastings police said.
The woman was taken to Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital with the handlebar still lodged in her lower abdomen.
The 40-year-old driver of the 4WD was not hurt.
Police inquiries were continuing.
