A relative of Olympic medal-winning cyclist Hayden Roulston has died in a car accident a day after Roulston won the Tour of Southland.
Nicholas John Roulston, 23, of Ashburton, was killed when the vehicle he was a passenger in hit a tree at Lauriston, in mid-Canterbury about 1.20pm on Sunday.
The driver suffered serious injuries. The Herald understands Nick Roulston and Hayden Roulston were second cousins but did not have any contact.
