Police are still investigating the death of a man found beside the cycleway near the Bond St overbridge in central Auckland overnight.
The man's death was unexplained and was being treated as suspicious, the police said earlier today.
A post-mortem examination scheduled for this morning is now to take place tomorrow morning, say police.
The man has been identified but next of kin are still to be notified.
Ambulance officers said the man was dead when they arrived at the cycle track close to the north western motorway about 12.40am.
The body was found beneath a motorway overbridge next to the cycle track.
A tent was erected over the body until it was removed for the post mortem examination.
The man was Caucasian in his mid to late 30s.
Bond Street was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while police completed a scene examination and reopened shortly after daylight although the footpath remained cordoned off.
Police appealed for anyone in the area just after midnight or who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
