KEY POINTS:
A Dunedin man who allegedly attacked two police officers with a chainsaw has been remanded in custody.
Peter Carr, 40, faced two charges of assault with a weapon, wilful damage and escaping from custody when he appeared in Dunedin District Court today.
Carr wasn't required to enter a plea today and Judge Paul Kellar refused bail, remanding him in custody until Friday.
Police allege Carr attacked two officers with the chainsaw on Saturday when they tried to arrest him for breaching bail conditions.
The police armed offenders unit was deployed in the incident, but failed to locate Carr.
He was arrested at a suburban Brighton property yesterday.
